The Gizzard rocket glider is the sister ship to the Giblet boost glider that is
patterned after European boost gliders inundating the FAI competition
scene. It's slightly larger wing area is intended to carry the additional mass
of the spent motor casing without degradation in performance versus the
boost glider version.
The model's pivoting wing, with folding tips, turns 90° parallel to the boom
to reduce boost drag and prevent aerodynamic influences i.e. looping,
during boost. When the motor's ejection charge fires, a burn string is
severed which allows the wing to pivot into glide position.
The model's construction is balsa and hardwood with laser cut flying
surfaces that must be airfoiled and sanded smooth for optimum
performance. Complete instructions are included that cover construction,
preparation and flying tips from 1/8” launch rods.
